He’s been also at music faculties of several Chinese universities, teaching piano performance and lecturing about piano interpretation, piano methodology, and Czech music. His students in China have received awards in many piano competitions. In 2016 he received a Premium Award by the Janáček Foundation for his outstanding doctoral music research related to the late great Czech pianist Rudolf Firkušný. He is one of the presidents of the WPTA – World Piano Teachers Association CHINA. He is married to Chinese soprano Xingxing Wang – Pohlová, which is also a PETROF ART FAMILY member. Together, they often join stage performing both Czech and Chinese music in their home countries. In 2020, in the PETROF Gallery on ANT. PETROF grand piano, they together recorded the album "Magical Songs", which was released in China and earned recognition from the public and professional critics. In 2021, Richard was awarded an honorary award “Suzhou Friend – Merit“ for his contribution to social and cultural development in the Suzhou area.
